Building Together: the Design and Dine at Scott Elementary
At W.J. Scott Elementary, the energy was contagious as students, teachers, and an enthusiastic team from Cox Enterprises came together to Design and Dine—a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and the power of community. Together, we all shared one inspiring goal: to bring an outdoor learning space to life, crafted with and for the students.
Principal Longley set the tone with a warm welcome, emphasizing how students from every grade had a hand in shaping the vision for this new space. “Our students have worked so hard, moving from hand-drawn sketches to impressive, computer-generated models thanks to graphic design programs,” Principal Longley shared. The highlight of the evening was the “Student Design Challenge,” where young learners showcased their ideal learning environments. With pride, they presented their winning designs—concepts that were thoughtful, detailed, and, above all, a true reflection of their vision.
“We wanted everyone to see how inclusive this process has been, and how these designs reflect our entire school community’s creativity and vision,” Principal Longley noted, highlighting the enthusiasm and dedication each student brought to the project.
Students found their voices, teachers shared their insights, and Cox Enterprises reaffirmed its commitment to creating meaningful, lasting change in schools like W.J. Scott Elementary. As we look ahead, we’re even more excited about the upcoming Big Dig, where we’ll partner again with Cox Enterprises to bring this vision to life on National STEM Day!
